Aram/Bastet
Duo
listen
to MP3
This duo has existed since 2000 and has developed a repertoire of
standard and original material performed in a technical yet romantic
nature. Michel Bastet is one of the best known pianists in the Suisse
Romande area and has worked with many of the most important jazz
artists from both sides of the Atlantic. His thorough knowledge
of the history of jazz piano is transferred into his own original
and unique style.

The
Geneva Down Town Orchestra
listen
to MP3
This group was formed in 2004 and is an exciting cross between a
jazz Big Band and a small combo. Made up of ten players, all from
Switzerland, the majority of players are from the younger generation
and show the skills and enthusiasm of the new Swiss generation of
Jazz Musicians. The line up of three saxes (all doubling), two trumpets,
one trombone (John Aram) plus rhythm section of piano, Guitar, Bass
and drums gives the power of the big band with the flexibility of
a small group. This band was originally modeled on the Underground
Orchestra from the UK and has developed its own original repertoire,
which is constantly expanding.

Trombone
& String Quartet

to MP3
This is the newest project and has several local and international
composers writing original material for this group. The addition
of piano gives another dimension to this interesting combination
and possible collaborations are with the great British piano player
Nikki Iles and Swiss piano sensation Léo Tardin along with
an amazing string quartet based in Zurich and led by Cellist Daniel
Pezzotti.

The Brit pAk
listen
to MP3
The Brit pAk plays music inspired by the rock scene of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Equally influenced by “On The Corner” or “Purple Haze” Music by Hendrix, The Who, as well as Psychedelic originals by the group members.
The sound, which is constantly monitored and manipulated live on stage by DJ Niko, is in the true jazz tradition, giving an emphasis on group interaction and solid interplay.
This group includes Colin Vallon and Phil Donkin, both young and exciting players whose playing comes from a jazz tradition but is firmly implanted on the music of today.
John Aram : Trombone and Electric Trombone
Colin Vallon : Fender Rhodes, Prepared piano, effects
Phil Donkin : Double Bass
Norbert Pfammatter : Drums
Dj Niko : Live Sound Manipulation, Samples
The group proposes a “soirée” full of surprises and offers the possibility of augmenting the quintet with two of the most innovative VJ’s working in Suisse Romande (Sigma 6), who puts live Video effects with the music of Brit pAk.

The Aram/Sherrer Quintet
The group is a mixture of generations and styles with the great Andy Sherrer
and his experience alongside the great skill and youthful exuberance of the
new Swiss piano Star Colin Vallon.
The great young bass player, Phil Donkin is already at 23 a star in his
native England, being the first call player for all the great British Jazz
musicians (Tim Garland, Guy Barker, Kenny Wheeler, Bheki Mseleki, Gwilym
Simcock).
The group has been playing together since the Strings on Top festival in
Basel in 2005 and had a very successful Swiss tour at the beginning of 2007.
At the moment, there is no recording of the group although a "bootleg" from a concert earlier this year is being waited.
The band has a recording scheduled for autumn 2008.
