The
Geneva Down Town Orchestra
listen
to MP3
This group was formed in 2004 and is an exciting cross between a jazz Big Band and a small combo. Made up of ten outstanding Swiss and International musicians. The line up of three saxes (all doubling), two trumpets, one trombone (John Aram) plus rhythm section of piano, Guitar, Bass and drums gives the power of the big band with the flexibility of a small group. This band was originally modeled on the Underground Orchestra from the UK and has developed its own original repertoire, which is constantly expanding. Recent collaborations with Kenny Wheeler and Josh Roseman and projects with Billy Cobham mean this is a hugely exciting band to hear.
